Reflexive spatial behaviour does not guarantee evolution advantage in prey--predator communities

چکیده
We consider the model of spatially distributed population consisting of two species with “predator – prey” interaction; each of the species occupies two stations. Transfer of individuals between the stations (migration) is not random and yields the maximization of a net reproduction of each species. Besides, each species implements reflexive behavior strategy to determine the optimal migration flow.

Stability analysis of a fractional order prey-predator system with nonmonotonic functional response
In this paper, we introduce fractional order of a planar fractional prey-predator system with a nonmonotonic functional response and anti-predator behaviour such that the adult preys can attack vulnerable predators. We analyze the existence and stability of all possible equilibria. Numerical simulations reveal that anti-predator behaviour not only makes the coexistence of the prey and predator ...

http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.anbehav.2016.11.029 0003-3472/© 2016 Published by Elsevier Ltd on beha Prey animals that possess chemical defences often advertise their unprofitability to predators by a distinctive and conspicuous visual appearance known as aposematism. However, not all chemically defended species are conspicuous, and some are nearly cryptic. Differences in predator community compo...
متن کاملEco-evolutionary interactions between predators and prey: can predator-induced changes to prey communities feed back to shape predator foraging traits?
Question: It is well established that predators can influence the structure and dynamics of prey communities and that changes in prey communities can drive predator evolution. Here we ask whether changes in prey communities, brought on by the effects of predators, can feed back to mould the evolution of predator foraging traits. Study system: We sampled lakes in Connecticut (USA) containing eit...
متن کاملIndividual behaviour, space and predator evolution promote persistence in a two-patch system with predator switching
Predator switching is often assumed to be a stabilizing force in predator–prey interactions. Recent models, however, have shown that predator switching can have a destabilizing effect on populations, creating cycles or even extinctions of predators and prey. However, most of these models have been traditional top-down mathematical models that do not incorporate individual variability or evoluti...
متن کاملHow the Magnitude of Prey Genetic Variation Alters Predator-Prey Eco-Evolutionary Dynamics.
Evolution can alter the stability and dynamics of ecological communities; for example, prey evolution can drive cyclic dynamics in predator-prey systems that are not possible in the absence of evolution. However, it is unclear how the magnitude of additive genetic variation in the evolving species mediates those effects. In this study, I explore how the magnitude of prey additive genetic variat...
